Ravine Drive East, Situated on the Iconic Ravine Drive

An amazing part of our city is that there are so many great neighbourhoods to settle down in and call home. Today we’re featuring one of the most desired locations in Edmonton- Glenora. As a design builder specializing in the mature neighbourhoods of the city, we’ve built up quite the portfolio of projects in this iconic neighbourhood. Keep reading as we share a little bit more about why Glenora is the place to be!

History
Glenora is one of Edmonton’s most historic residential neighbourhoods. Initially, it was established as a country garden subdivision before the First World War. While walking the neighbourhood streets, you’ll notice that this historic charm is preserved through irregular lots, curvilinear streets and varied architecture.

You’ll also find a variety of heritage buildings in the area as well as other places of interest, including the Historic Government House, Historic Glenora Substation, Alexander Circle Fountain and the Royal Alberta Museum.

Location
Bound by 111th Ave. and the North Saskatchewan River between Groat Road and 142nd Street- Glenora is located just minutes from downtown, and is equally as close to Edmonton’s crown jewel, the river valley!

Glenora is a very walkable community, with everything you need close by. Because of its central location, there is easy access to transit (with a new LRT line in the works), shopping, recreation and schools. Some of our favourite local cafes are The Colombian and Vi’s for Pies- both must trys! You’re also in close proximity to the trendy shops and restaurants found on 124th street!

River Valley
Glenora residents enjoy direct access to the River Valley, with so many community greenspaces right at their doorstep. Practically in your backyard you’ll find Alexander Park, Faith Clifton/Alan MacDonald Memorial Park, MacKinnon Ravine, Ramsay Ravine and Government House Park. With this comes an unlimited oasis of nature with bike/hiking trails, and some of the best preserved views in the city! In the winter, this is also a popular spot for cross-country skiers to frequent. View some of our past projects to see how we integrate new homes to complement their gorgeous natural surroundings!

Community
Glenora is a well rounded, mature neighbourhood with an active community feel. Despite being so close to downtown, the area has a quiet, peaceful atmosphere you may not expect.

From urban professionals to families, the neighbourhood meets the tastes and needs of many. The Glenora Community League offers a garden, playground, spray park, tennis courts, ice rink, sports fields and a preschool for residents to enjoy. If this sounds like the community for you, contact us!

In today’s real estate market, Glenora continues to be an area that is in high demand! It’s proximity to urban conveniences, as well as the beautiful River Valley, make its location hard to beat. The unique historical charm found here, mixed with a variety of architectural styles, are also selling points. We’ll leave you with a sneak peek of our latest project in Glenora- our Ravine Drive Three renovation! This home is going to be a beautiful blend of original character and updated mid century modern details- stay tuned.
